Lovin' Lately no. 3
The show i'm currently obsessed with. Formulaic and more amusing than it is funny, but also exactly the Summer escape I was looking for.
Hi! Danielle Wraith here! The Second Act is the weekly newsletter I always wanted in my inbox, packed with obsessively-curated recommendations, thoughtful reflections on books, feelings, life, and the art of making room for more. Whether you're seeking inspiration or connection. The Second Act offers a warm, inviting space for all.
Imagine we’re catching up over coffee and I’m gushing over what I’ve been Lovin’ Lately…
Back on my mosquito beat: This bug spray has been my go-to for a few summers now. Not only does it smell great (vanilla and orange — like a grownup Creamsicle) and come in a cute package, and it’s DEET-free.
Glennon Doyle’s Podcast “We Can Do Hard Things:” A friend recommended this podcast to me, and in all honesty, it has comprised about 90% of my media consumption since then, particularly the two-part episodes with Liz Gilbert and Cheryl Strayed. Liz and Cheryl both speak so brilliantly, and from different angles, about making difficult decisions, creating meaning in life, and listening to your gut. I shared both with every woman I know.
Trader Joe’s Chicken Meatballs: When you’re craving the comfort of a home-cooked meal, but don’t have the energy to make a home-cooked meal, I cannot recommend the following more highly: these meatballs, a handful of spinach, shaved Parmesan, lots of salted butter, and sun-dried tomatoes tossed with some penne. Inexpensive, easy, and delicious. Chicken meatballs for the exhausted soul.
“Loot” on Apple TV+: Molly Novak (played by Maya Rudolph) would be insufferable, if she weren’t so naïvely charming. In a ripped-from-the-headlines plot, Molly finds herself with $87 billion after a divorce, and proceeds on a soul-searching journey that leads to her discovery of a foundation she didn’t even know she had. The show is formulaic and more amusing than it is funny, but also exactly the Summer escape I was looking for.
FRIDAY FAVORITES
Sharing a few of my favorite links bc cool girls don’t gatekeep.
Eberjey PJs— They are soft, buttery, and loose enough to feel relaxed but not so much you are swimming in fabric under your sheets. I love them. (I don’t wash my PJs after every wear FYI, I like to get several sleeps out of them so two pairs is the right amount for one in the wash and one to wear.)
The swooniest Spotify playlist, BREAKFAST IN A NANCY MYERS KITCHEN.
The BEST Pillows for a cozy bed.
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in VANILLA!!! My new favorite!!
After months of hauling around so.much.stuff from one activity to the next activity, I upgraded to a large L.L.Bean tote (with monogramming) and I’m so excited to have a better way to haul everything. I got the mauve which I love.
Alright, see ya next week! Leave me a comment on anything you’d like me to include in Lovin’ Lately in the future… Day in the life details? What’s on my TBR? Fave spots in Fresno? Got a question? Lemme know!
