My focus for the year is all about self-expression and one of the ways I have enjoyed expressing myself over the years is through blogging, social media, newsletters, etc. I’ve engaged in many versions of this process and when thinking about how I want to continue connecting with readers over life joys, ah-has, intentional actions, books, and anything else that makes life a bit sweeter I wanted a space that could build community (chat threads!) and an easy way to archive past newsletters as well as organize key categories.
I’ve been dragging my feet on this because, in all honesty, it feels extremely intimidating to share on a platform that has a “for writers” culture to it. I’ve never felt confident in my writing, my grammar or spelling, but I love to share in a fun yet thoughtful way, so thank you in advance for your grace.
Introducing— The Second Act, the next era of how I want to create and share content in a meaningful way online, my monthly highlights will live here but so will so much more— thoughtful personal essays, weekly Lovin’ Lately lists, and lots about what I’m reading. I’ve got pages of ideas for conversations I want to have here, things I want to share, and ways I want to add value. I’m so glad you are here and I hope this humble corner of the internet can be something beautiful.
Before I go, here are a few things I’ve been Lovin’ Lately (look for a weekly version of this moving forward!)
Eberjey PJs— They are soft, buttery, and loose enough to feel relaxed but not so much you are swimming in fabric under your sheets. I love them. (I don’t wash my PJs after every wear FYI, I like to get several sleeps out of them so two pairs is the right amount for one in the wash and one to wear.)
The swooniest Spotify playlist, BREAKFAST IN A NANCY MYERS KITCHEN.
The BEST Pillows for a cozy bed.
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in VANILLA!!! My new favorite!!
After months of hauling around so.much.stuff from one activity to the next activity, I upgraded to a large L.L.Bean tote (with monogramming) and I’m so excited to have a better way to haul everything. I got the mauve which I love.
A fascinating look inside the lives and minds of the NBA’s eight female referees. “I’m looking around like, Oh my god, they’re coming after me after this game. My life’s over. Nothing prepares you for that.”
Alone with You in the Ether by Olivie Blake: Blake’s self-published love story takes place between two imperfect people, Regan, a bipolar counterfeit artist, and Aldo, a clinically depressed student who compulsively calculates time travel. The result is a transfixing meditation on love, time, and chance encounters. This book first caught fire on TikTok, but it’s about to get a mainstream audience now that it has been republished as a hardcover. Read it now—paper copies are hard to track down, but you can buy the e-book online—so you can pretentiously say, “Oh that? I read it months ago!” when everyone you know is talking about it. (And they will be!)
P.S. If you are new to Substack (like I was about 4 weeks ago!) there are several reasons why I’m officially on board with it— the biggest being the organization and ease of access to posts and archives. While this came to your email, you can also visit my Sustack page to revisit it any time or use the app (highly recommend!).
